21-letnia Sammy Smalls (Cristin Milioti) pracuje w centrum handlowym i wykrywa sklepowych złodziei. To nietypowa dziewczyna, ukrywająca się za niemodnymi ubraniami i lekko utykająca z powodu dziecięcej choroby. Nie lubi gdy dotykają ją inni ludzie, nie jest też doświadczona seksualnie. Sammy podkochuje się w muzyku Eugene (Mark Rendall), mimo że wszyscy uważają ich jedynie za przyjaciół. Postanawia zbliżyć się do niego, lecz ich próby w sferze intymnej kończą się całkowitą katastrofą.
